During heartBeast's production of AWAY, Cassab's painting makes an interesting comment on the costuming choices and visual portrayal of the character, Coral - a woman of substance, a woman of control, a woman of class. In AWAY elements of this characterisation are stripped away and laid bare, but the core elements of the character pervade. Through the course of the action of the play she is made anew. Her grief is her crucible. She becomes rediscovered country.
Past heartBeast productions have been described by audiences and critics as:
beautifully crafted energetically entertaining dreamlike, glorious, avant-garde
lavish and luscious powerful, unique, spectacular and engaging absolutely wild
wonderful, remarkable, intriguing magic realism fantastic and genuinely memorable
filled with commanding presence beautifully balanced, definite showpiece theatre.
“If you don’t believe in the theatre as a sacred space of metaphor, transformation and ritual – rack off”.
Barrie Kosky, Theatre Director.
heartBeast 2015 is set to be a year of new directions and dynamic new projects.
